This is the album I’ve been waiting for, ever since discovering Eguana four years ago. One of the best artists on Cosmicleaf, free of the busy-ness and clutter in so much downbeat music that relies on samples and field recordings. This album perfectly blends the best of both ambient and chill out, giving us both mystery and excitement: space music with an edgy sense of beauty and awe. Once you’ve listened to Abyss, a lot of other ambient music will seem pretty amateur.

I quickly browsed through the various releases of Equana and eventually landed on this one. I wasn't super excited until I listened to Numbness. It hits all the right musical feels. Maybe it's because it sounds like the artist found their inner Carbon Based Lifeforms (CBL), but on their own terms. This is a worthy EP if you enjoy the likes of CBL and similar artists.
